Helvetica -
Helvetica is a widely used sans-serif typeface developed in 1957 by Swiss typeface designer Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann. Helvetica is one of the most widely used sans-serif typefaces. Helvetica is a common choice for commercial wordmarks, including those for 3M, American Airlines, American Apparel, BMW, Jeep, JCPenney, Lufthansa, Microsoft, Mitsubishi Electric, Target, Panasonic, Motorola, and Kawasaki. 

I think that Helvetica is important because before I came to uni, I did not know about Helvetica and the history that lies beyond the font. I also think that it is important because of how common and popular it is around the world.
